OBD error codes, advice please

I got a check engine light yesterday on my 1999 C2 and as it turns out, my durametric (clone) cable just gives me a red light so I can't connect it. But I picked up a code reader from Harbor Freight today.

I get the following codes:

P0102
P0446

Any idea on where to start? Anyone experienced these? The car starts and runs like it always did

First of all, when asking this type of question, always include the year and model of the car as it can make a difference in which is the correct answer.

Assuming it is a 1999 car:

P0102 - Mass airflow sensor below lower limit; likely faults: break in the wiring, short to ground.

P0446 - EVAP canister shut off valve below limit; likely faults: purge air line blocked, flow blockage in the EVAP canister

Hi, thanks. Yes, 1999 C2.

I see the codes, and I found what the OBD manual says about it. Is there any thing I should check before that? Is this commonly caused by something?

Someone also asked me if I had occasional trouble starting the car, and yes I do. If takes a few extra cranks to start it, I think. And a few times I tried starting it but it didn't, I had to wait a minute and try again.

Here's the OBD manual steps. Just start going through them then? I don't have the Special Tool, can I get around not using it?

You can get around using the "special tool", which is a Porsche specific pin out box, but it is going to be a lot more time consuming as you would need a digital multimeter and the car's wiring diagrams to test the circuits.

I cleaned the MAF. The air filter and inside of the air box was fairly "dirty" for a filter I replaced in July.

Cleared the codes. Let's see how that goes.

Live OBD data.
