I have the same issue as blulude, my vent valve operates in the opposite sense to the article. When fuel cap removed vent closes and when installed the vent valve opens. Is this correct.?
I have two codes p0456 and p0450 i have replaced the charcoal cannister and the pressure sensor, the tank is not breathing when i refuel and hence cant get a full tank of fuel.

Is my vent valve bad based on it operating in the opposite sense to your article.

What vehicle are you working on? Those faults relate to a leak in the EVAP system, look at the gas cap seal FIRST, it should have no cracks in the rubber.
