Thinking of getting a 996.2

So besides the IMS bearing what else so I be asking or researching on these cars that can become issues. For 996 owners with the Navi, how hard is it to add a IPhone adapter to these cars?

IMS and RMS are the only main issues with the 996. But, the IMS issue is more concerning with the 3,4L engine ('99, '00 and '01 model year). Also, make sure everything works on the car.

Don't quote me on this, but I believe the models that come with the navigation system use the "MOST" fibre optic system which can be a real burden to integrate and iPhone adapter. There are other ways, but perhaps not the most effective such as an FM modulator and what have you.

Good luck!

Good point. In 2004 all the Bose systems are MOST. Very little upgrade options with complete rip and replace. However if you're just simply looking to stream audio via bluetooth from your iPhone this works great!

Supposedly has more to do with double vs single row bearings and the load it carries. Single row used in 2000-2005. Nice write-up here:

Water pump should be replaced at 60k miles. Excellence has a great article on these cars.

Had a 2004 and the radio/nav system was not the highlight. Given how other electronics seem outdated in 5 years... 12 is asking a lot.
