Rufrob,

Can't help you with your knocking noise problem however I have enjoyed this tread. Please keep it updated as it's a great example of sorting out a 'new' car.

Well. Now the right window isnít dropping down and the rear spoiler is leaking again. I ordered new brake pads of eBay. They arrived too small. Seller said they match US spec and the reason why they donít fit mine is itís ROW. Didnít know there were different caliper sizes for standard steel rotors. Mine doesnít have PCCB.

Brake pads sorted. Now the knocking noise from the front left is back. Intermittently. This leads me to think itís the strut itself. Now to find a good used strut to swap.

If you want to convert to coilover suspension, I have an H&R setup with rebuilt front shock inserts. Might be a bit pricey to ship to Japan tho...

I loved these cars even more once I first got my hands on one. I also thought I would share some exhaust sounds with you guys. The beauty is that this one has a Tech-Art exhaust. How does it sound compared to stock ?

Cheers

Admittedly the stock muffler does its job too well. The burble at start is delicious but then it sounds like a vacuum cleaner when warmed up and on the move. After the GT2 deck lid and suspension is sorted Iíll look into the exhaust. The Techart sounds a bit droning I think. I would seek a Ruf piece if the car Gods will.
Speaking of suspension, I sources a new strut off EBay. It has a blue dot on it while the original has a red dot. Anyone knows what it means? So far so good. No noise.

The original strut and the replacement

Does anyone know what the dot means?
