Front suspension pop noise

I have a popping noise from my front suspension. Occurs at low speeds when applying the brakes or going over a driveway curb. Sounds to me like a loose subframe. Does that make sense and what pickup points do I need to check torque on? Common issue?
2003 996 Carrera coupe, 20k original miles.

could easily be drop links which is very common wear item that produces that sound. If the rubber boot is damaged they wear pretty quickly. Doesn't take much movement either to make the sound.
if you think subframe, look at the bolts and try a wrench on them. If they're tight, it's not the problem. Get the car off the ground and unload the front end. Remove the wheels top eliminate the extra weight. If the subframe is loose, the torque spec will no doubt be forthcoming.

I got under the car and started torqueing stuff down and found that one of the subframe bracket bolts that goes into the body was stripped out. As a result the two bolts behind this one were a bit loose so the right side of the subframe was shifting. I torqued them all down and the pop is gone. I ordered a helicoil kit for the M12x1.5 bolt that was stripped and will fix it this weekend.

Check your tire wear. Might be worth doing an alignment check too.

Yes I agree probably worth checking after addressing the loose bolts.
