I recently replace the water pump and thermostat on my 2001 996. I removed the left-bank cat including the sensors in order make more room for changing out the pump and thermostat. Once the car was back in operation and after several miles of driving the CEL came on. The fault check code reads: P0430 Porsche fault code 45 - cat conversion bank 2 exceeds limit value. I cleared the code and after several days of driving its back on. However, the car is running great! No missing or cranky idle and the high is also very smooth. One more thing, when the light first came on we had been driving on a dusty road for several miles.
Can you tell me what the code means? Are the O2 sensors bad or is it the cat? Or is there something else going on? Many thanks! __________________ This post was auto-generated based upon a question asked on our tech article page here: Porsche 911 Carrera Oxygen Sensor Replacement - 996 (1998-2005) - 997 (2005-2012) - Pelican Parts Technical Article |
I believe there is a software fix for that fault? If the software does not fix the fault it is time for a new cat... I would also make sure that the sensors are tight and that all fasteners and gaskets have been properly installed.
