More than 19 ft/lbs on filter housing
On a 2003 Boxster, the recommended torque for tightening the oil filter housing is 19 ft/lbs. Exactly what is the danger of going beyond that, providing the housing is still intact? What damage does it do to the filter inside?

No damage, the housing flange bottoms out and 19 ftlbs is to hold in place. You can crank more as long the flange does not crack all is OK. The “O” ring is what seals the housing against the sides. One could just screw the housing in hand tight and probably have no leaks as long as the flange is touching.

Thanks. That's kind of what I thought.
