1999 996 alternator mount broke

what am I looking at to replace it? The lower mounting ear snapped off and my alternator is just hanging out loose.

It looks like the mounting ear just unbolts, but I'm waiting til it cools to take it apart and snap a few pics to post.

Thanks for any advice guys

did it break at the alternator or the engine? You might need a welder.

The alternator mounts to an ear on a cover plate. Is that the one that broke? The 997 piece is stronger and can replace the earlier one.

it has been raining all day and I haven't gotten to take it apart. the ear is definitely broken off the engine, not the alternator.

i'll check out that link. from what I can see it is able to be unbolted from the engine, so I guess I'll order the 997 version.

is this a common thing?

thanks for the help FPB111

So I discovered a few other things damaged. The rear right mounting ear on the alternator case (threaded for the long bolt) is cracked also. I just tested my alternator a few weeks ago and it was good, so I'd rather not buy a new one.

Does anyone have a bad old 996 alternator laying around that I can buy for parts?

update just to provide closure.. I got an alternator, so that is no longer needed. Thanks for the offers.
Installed everything and that low rpm rattle I heard is totally gone...apparently it must have been the alternator bracket and case shaking around before it finally snapped.
