Extended Warranty Companies?
OK, I just acquired a pristine '03 C2 Carrera with less than 38K miles and all records. It has had the RMS and IMS replaced under factory warranty and seems to be in perfect condition. The warranty on it expired shortly before I acquired it.
Being new to the 996 world and adverse to the possibility of a "grenaded" 996 engine because of the dreaded intermediate shaft failure, I have been looking into the possibility of buying an after-market extended powertrain warranty. My local Porsche dealer recommended one from Fidelity Warranty Services, Inc., in Deerfield Beach, FL. The price for a 36 mo, 36K powertrain warranty seems reasonable at $2200. Here is the problem, when I went to the BBB website and looked up this company, it was rated "A+". So far, so good. However, when I looked for comments from customers of that company, I found a lot of really unhappy campers. Does anyone have any real (actual, as opposed to anecdotal) experience with this company in particular or others of this kind? I'm not getting much hard information from forum searches.Thanks. |

Don't know about that co, but have seen the 60 minutes TV expose of US Fidelis and the guy that runs that company is an ex-con scammer.
Warranties are basically an insurance policy. I'd make a call to your insurance broker and see what they can advise you on. Companies like Zurich and Chubb may offer these warranties and are reputable.
