Hoosier Tire Pressures
This coming season, I am switching from a 914-6 on Yoko 032s to a '70 widebody 911 on Hoosier R3S03 (245/45s and 225/50s on 9/8X16s).
I know that the Yokos and Hoosiers prefer different tire pressues. So, what tire pressures should I start with and what should they be hot? Thanks

First, what does your car weigh, as this has an impact? In general you want to end up in the 36-38 lb front and 38-40 lb rear when hot. Do not let the tires get above 40 hot or they go greasy really fast.
Cold pressure start around 28-32 cold and measure once hot

I have been playing in the 36-40 (hot) range in my 914 as well. Unlike the Kumhos and some of the other -R tires, the Hoosiers really did not seem happy at lower pressures.
There are guidelines on the Hoosier web site, which are in the same ballpark.

In my 911, 2270 lbs. it likes 40/42 hot in the front and 42/44 hot in the rear.

This is great - thanks for the responses. I knew that the Hoosiers like more pressure but I just didn't know how much.

I should refine my suggestion a bit...
For autocross you may want to go a few pounds higher... (Like MMarsh suggested) For lapping try my original recommendation...

Yesterday I dropped my pressures to the 32-35 range on an old rock-hard set of R3S03's and they felt pretty decent. It was a cool day with ambient temps in the mid-50's, plus the track was recently repaved/oiled, so grip was a bit compromised.
I guess there is no substitute for repeated, controlled 'testing' for figuring out tire pressures. Yet another skill I need to improve next year.

Hoosier R3S03 245 and 275 -17 on a 2300 lb 911: 34 front and 38 rear hot is what I have found works best.
