Zone 8 Performance Driving School
Just had to express my appreciation for all the PCA instructors and everyone connected to the 5th - 7th Peformance driving school @ Qualcom stadium last weekend.
Had a BLAST, that's some of the most fun I've had in a long time, the 2 mile Autocross track we ran Sunday was a challenge with out being to hard. I learned alot about my car Saturday with all the different driving exercises, that without this class would have taken much longer. Allthough my car had mis-matched tires I learned alot about throttle steering and setting up for the right line. I couldn't get my car to let the rear end go out, it would just do a 4 wheel drift most of the time (front tires). Even Steve Dente tried it on the pitch & catch, no go. Time to get the Yoko AVS es100's on the front. I would recommend this to any Porche owner that wants to be a better driver no matter what car you might be driving. Now it's time for an autocross or two. WHAT A KICK IN THE A#* Thanks Guys! Rick Sylvestri

Rick-
It was good to meet you Sat. I wish we would have had more time to chat, but it was a busy weekend for me. Glad you enjoyed it and learned some things. There is no doubt that it is the best $225 a Porsche owner can spend on their car. Your car should be easy to pitch- the front tires must be totally shot, and with the wet skidpad just didn't have enough grip. It's usually the stock 996s and C4s that have a horrible push like that. I have had some that would not lift-throttle oversteer without left foot braking, and of course you have to remember to turn the PSM OFF! You should definitely get down for some of the autox events next year (or even the no-points event on the 20th of Dec.) TT

I was there instructing a Scot named Alan, easy student too.
Really is great training wiith all the drills on Saturday and the AX class all Sunday. I thought the light rain added to the training. I'll use this as an excuse to post a pic of me on the gas too much too early. Don't do it like this. ![]() ![]() |

Tom,
Nice meeting you too! I'll see if I can do enough honey do's for the 20th, I'd love to try it with some matched tires and see if that's the problem. Ted, Alan was in my skid pad & run group, I was working corner #1 when the instuctors got the track late Sunday and he had the biggest ![]() Lotta smiles by all Sunday afternoon. Rick
