Places to stay for the Phoenix Grand Am???
My wife and I are thinking about coming down for the Phoenix Grand Am races in April. What are the nicer "resortish" hotels that are near the track. My wife needs some time by the pool.
Thanks

Phoenix, Arizona? There are dozens of resorts there. Which track is it? Phoenix International Raceway? That's out in the boonies. The closest one I can think of is the Pointe near South Mountain. Nothing is really going to be an ordeal because there are freeways everywhere. Surf Expedia, you'll find many choices.

Rich, Yes thanks, we've spent a lot of time in the Valley and know there are lots of resorts. I just didn't know that PIR is clear out in the sticks. I thought there might be something close. Thanks

Well, PIR is not really in the boonies any longer. Avondale is building at a tremendous rate and I was surprised when we went to the HSR West race there in Jan this year. Do a search of motels/hotels for Avondale as I know there is a new one at the Dysart Rd exit just north of I-10. We usually stay at an older place, but they do have a pool. They also have a picture of my car on the wall over the check-in counter.....

Mark,
There are several places to stay near PIR. Just off I-10 at either Dysart or Litchfield Rds motels ranging from economy (Super 8) to nice (Holiday Inn or Windgate) are available. These are a relatively easy 10 to 15 minute drive from PIR. If you want resort style try the WigWam Resort in Litchfield Park. Litchfield Park is located between Dysart and Litchfield Rds about three miles north of I-10. However, the Wig Wam is a five star resort and the prices reflect that status. If I can provide any other information let me know. I am a Captain with the Avondale Fire Deptand have lived/worked in the area for the last 18 years. I will probably attend the race again this year. Enjoy the nice weather, Don |
