safety Devices early rollcage??

I am looking at a Safety Devices full rollcage that was built in the mid-80s, but not used much since that time.
Anyone have one or familiar with them?

Trying to determine any differences with the current models?
Does it meet current PCA rules for cages?

Any help would be appreciated.

Earl

PS is for a 911 78sc

You talking about one with straight, not kinked bars?

I have one in my car. PCA rules specify attachment and wall thickness.

John,

I believe you are correct - it has straight bars. It appears the attcahment may be different, ut not sure.

So It would be PCA legal?

Thanks

Earl,

Assuming that it meets the specifications set forth in the PCA rule book for wall thickness, material and installation, the scrutineers will probably approve it. There is no rule, for example, like the one for your harnesses that says they have to be new in the last 5 years. . . my guess there are a few cars out there with cages from the Mid-80's.

However, before you buy it, be damn sure it's not rusty, bent, etc. How do you know it hasn't been regularly used for the last 20 years?
