car left the jackstands 2.5 years.. pics!

I'm very happy to say that my car touched down on its on 4 feet after about 29-30 months.

It hasn't ran yet, but its starting to feel like a real car again

I'll post a link to the pics:914 vintage build up

Wow, really awesome work. nice job. I haven't had a chance to look at all the details but the rear decklid and oil cooler setup are very nice. Supertec engine, too! I would love to see the car in person sometime, since I'm in your state and tend to turn up at the tracks

Hay, Brant, good to see another 914 guy here amid all these
911 wonks
It would be nice if either of our cars weren't presently ..ah..indisposedto dispell the myth of the 914/ jackstand marriage. Yours being on the ground is a start, I guess

This is a gud place to hang. There be racers here.

150 sounds very promising.
I know you gutted the doors and went to glass on the body, did you gut anything else?

what do you think your overall weight will be now?

I'm very interested because I have a BIG desire to beat 2000lbs with my all metal car. And I've got that heavy aluminum case to add another 20lbs too.

About 35-40 lbs of s***age came outta the front trunk + all the wiring, and the new tank saved maybe 5 lbs.
The new battery weighs about 13lbs vs 38... IIRC. I had the late doors....got maybe 60 lbs there, The hoods got me me 40 ish..Tires/wheels 3 -4 lbs ea, maybe 5 for the rear window.

Humm.....200 tops, but I gained 15 lbs this winter .....but it's low in the car I figured 2200 (WAG) prior to this exercise.

2040 is my minimum weight for SCCA F/P (AX). 1900 would be gud

I'll get it weighed before I take the insulation from the floor....30ish lbs I hear.

I'd be Very interested to find out your weight when you get to it.
I'm hoping you make 1900... (that way I have a better shot at my goal)

Did I ever tell ya what a lovely job you've done on your car?
At the risk of repeating myself, nice job.....now go fast & make it all worth while

What are you shooting for weight wise?

JP,

thanks again for the kind words.
I'm really proud of this car.
feels like all my money and time for nearly 3 years are into it.
hopefully I'll never blemish it and it will be my crowning achievement.

weight...
well thats an easy question with a long answer.
my class will allow 1825 or something like that..
but they also require all metal and not tube frame
so I believe that there is absolutely no way to achieve 1825
I'm shooting for 2000 but If I could hit 1950 I'd be really happy.
I actually have no Idea what to expect.
hopefully within about 3 weeks I'll be on the corner scales and will be able to get an idea!

Craig,
thanks also!
I think I'll be in the garage on the 16th. Installing the doors, front hood, and roof. So I'm likely going to mis the DE, but hopefully in a month or so I can come to one.

Yike....1825 is tough.

It was only this year that I decided to make my car a serious FP car.....get down to weight, get up on rubber & take it off the street......not an easy decision and my car was never as pretty as yours is now.

the 1825 is like a fluke..
I mean its the accurate rule, but its totally impossible.
Nobody else can get to it either, so at least I'm not the only one.

Oh well, I guess if the weight rule was 2125, I'd be complaining the other way. So its better to have an unreaslistically low goal then to have it too high
