Post PCA NNJ Autox: September 8th

The North New Jersey Porsche Club will be holding their next autocross on Saturday, September 8th in the Meadowlands, Giants Stadium Parking lot. Registration is from 8-9am, first car off at 9:30. Typically, over 100 cars show up, and they get 8 runs in by about 3:00pm! (These guys are very organized!!) Cost: $30.00.

For more information and classes, see:
http://vista.pca.org//nnj/Autox.html

Hope to see some Pelican BBS members running!
-Zoltan.

I'll be there and I'm bringing the race car. The parking lot is just too big for me not to.

I'm bringing my 88 944 Turbo track car. Its an ugly thing but it goes pretty good. Like all track cars it is a work in progress. It's white with #408 on it. I haven't decided if I'm going to drive down or trailer down depends on my mood.

BTW do you know what NNJRs rules are regarding non members and non Porsche cars at their AutoX events?

Pilot:
Cool! Looking forward to meeting you. You'll probably be running M1-V (4 cyl. modified class, veteran) I run in S7-V(944S/S2, 944T/TS, 968 veteran)

As far as non-members/non-Porsches go: yes: non members and non-p-cars can run. Cost is the same ($30.00). There are only two classes for non-Porsche cars: X-R (non-Porsche Rookie) and X-V (non-Porsche Veteran)so if you don't have a car well suited for autox, the deck is stacked against you. (Last year, I smoked a 'vette in my MR2!)

(Note: if you have autocrossed more than twice the previous season, you are in veteran classes)

Cool beans! See ya Saturday!

The results:
Drew (Pilot951) kicked some major NNJR butt: he took first place in M1 (Modified 4cyl cars). His friend Tom grabbed second in the same class.

I took 2nd in class (S7: 944S/S2, 944Turbo/TurboS, 968) with a time of 57.147 FTD in my class was 53.4 in a 968 which I think was running autox rubber vs. my street tires.

There was a long straight that required third gear. (Thanks Drew for the pointers to get back to 2nd after that straight!!!)
Drew and Tom were able to get on full boost in third on that same straight. Drew: I've got a digi-pic of you at the finish: I'll send it over to ya tomorrow.

No official times have been posted at the PCA site, but I'll get those numbers ASAP.

Oh what fun!
