Am I stupid for saving $ and buying a SA2000 helmet?
I'm switching to a full face helmet, and will be mounting my new Isaac Link setup to it. Am I stupid for saving a few bucks and buying the old 2000 model instead of a 2005? I'm not going to be racing, DE's only, and I figure after 5 years, a helmet will be ready for replacement....

For what it's worth, I think it's a good decision.

Actually, I just ordered a Bell SR-PRO for about $100 less than the '05 version @ Speedware. I hope to wear this helmet out (sweating on the inside at many track days) in the next 5 years.

Same here. I wouldn't use a helmet after 5 years anyway...

Just went thru this and bought the 2000. I don't know that there's any "real" difference in the spec, and I won't keep the helmet much more than 5 years.
I think the rule is somewhat artificial, and don't get me started on belts...

I did the same thing in '00; Snell-95 Bell SR-Pro (love it) and now I guess I'll have to pony up and get an '00 or '05 VERY soon...

I bought a SA95 in 2000 and I had to buy a new helmet last year. I was a little pissed because I had become really attached to my helmet (Shoei) and it wasn't being made anymore. In hindsight it was stupid for me to consider using the helment after 4 full seasons of racing. So maybe buying a older rated helmet is a good way to protect you from yourself.
