Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?
It will be my first event in my 914/6 3.2. Jumping from GI to V5. Yikes!

I'll be there.
BTW, a 3.2 in a 914/6 puts you V3!!!!! My boss Dave already went through the rules thoroughly and found out that 914's don't benefit from update/backdate like 911's do. There are no approved engine swaps either. So you take a hit for induction change, displacement increase, port size, cams etc, etc. Good luch against Kevin Roush! ![]() ![]()

That's the first thing that came to mind....!! ![]() V3 has got to be one of, if not thee, most hotly contested V car classe in POC. The lap times in that class are better than the average V2 guy.... excluding Roush! For some....jumping into the pond feet first and landing in V3 can sometimes prove to be a discouraging experience while others excel...I'm a V2 car and I get my butt pounded by the majority of V3 lap times I'll 2nd Tyson....Good Luck Sandy....!!! ![]()

Thanks for your good wishes. (And the tiny bit of snickering which is understandable.)
V3?!?! Cripes! Glad I wasn't planning on ever winning one of those little plaques. V3 is definitely the most competitive STS class by far. But my personal goal for 2006 is just getting my time down to run in the Orange Run Group. Plus, now I have a car with some power and the proper safety equipment to drive the big track. And learn from the Masters... "No. Grasshop-pah. Never lift. Never." I wish both you gentleman a very fast and very safe 2006. ![]()

Cool, I'm glad you plan to keep going on the path to bigger and faster tracks. It's great that you've got a dedicated track car now. That '69 is just too pretty to drive in anger!
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news on the classification front. My '69 is bumped into V3 with the 3.2 as well. I'm still going to run it at Streets at the end of the month possibly. I've only driven Streets twice, once in each direction. And never in this car. I have no idea what I can run in it. My goal is 1:12's. I'm under-tired with the narrow body in V-3, and overweight. But Streets is a finesse track, so I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Welcome to V3 Sandy. I have a 914-6 with a 2.7. It'll be nice having some company on the track as we watch Kevin and Mike fly by. I don't think I'll make it to this STS event but will be there later in the year.

I'll probably be there for the driving school the day before as well, since I'm mentoring a friend into P.O.C.
That should be fun to watch!

OK guys, here is mi situation.
I want to get back on the track, however the OTR events always comflict with my work. So these weekend events would be perfect I think. What is required to participate in these events? All I have is my 85 911 and a helmit. Oh and about 3 days of experience at Big Willow

All you need is your helmet, your car, a long sleeve shirt, long pants, tennis shoes, your sense of humor, and the track fee. If you join the POC, it's cheaper if you plan to continue with the Short Track Series. You can't self-tech your car. You will have to go to an approved POC tech station before the track day or have your car teched at the track before the drivers meeting that morning.
Go on the Porsche Owners Club website for further info. You will need to contact Marty Mehterian, the chief driving instructor after you sign up so you can be assigned an instructor for your first day. The POC has a strict instructor policy regarding new drivers. Plus, a day of POC in-car instruction will take your driving skills to a higher level. The Streets course is shorter and technically slower for top speeds, but very technically challenging. Looking forward to seeing everyone up there!

"Time Trials are not an entry level activity. A minimum of 6 Autocross' or 4 Autocross' and a drivers school are required to participate. Additionally, safety equipment requirements are more stringent than for Autocross. See the Zone 8 Rules for details. See the Tech page for car preparation requirements. Time Trials are limited to licensed participants or students. You obtain your license by satisfying at least two instructors that you are competent to run an event unsupervised. It takes at least two events to achieve this. Licenses are issued by Zone 8. Equivalent licenses from other sanctioning bodies are recognized and allowed." Basically your previous track days or future POC SOW days could count to your minimum PCA requirements. You would need to confirm your situation with our TT chair Jack Miller at tt@pcasdr.org All info regarding PCA TT events can be found here. Either PCA or POC track days will provide you with miles of smiles. ![]() |

Thank you for the info fellas, so what I gather it the Saturday event would be the first priority (at least it should be), then go back on Sunday to have some fun?
Just to be specific, the Saturday Drivers School event is on the 28th right?

Well, one event leads to the other. The drivers school on 1/28 is the perfect way to start the year. Especially your time on the skid pad. Then on Sunday 1/29, you'll have fun and continue along your learning curve with your in-car instruction during each run session.

OK all you POC SOW TT guys, get your basic track experience at SOW then install a roll bar and buy a driving suit. Actually I heard very soon that POC is going to start greasing the wheels for big track TT action for all the SOW experts.
That's a good thing. ![]() Soon as that happens I'll jump in too! ![]() Last edited by ted; 01-06-2006 at 05:14 PM.. |

A track suit is my next purchase. Suggestions?
A 100% stock '85 Turbo Look would be classified as "J-Stock" or "JS" With my roll bar installed in my 914/6, I'm looking forward to my first POC Time Trial class on the Big Track in 2006.
