Porsche Crest porsche 944 suspension suggestions

I would like to ask all the 944 racers out there what they are running for suspension setups. In addition to what you are running, if could you also state the class that your are running in that would be great. I am currently trying to decide if it is worth trying to outfit the car for a class in auto x. Stock E or Prepared B?

the car will be used for numerous track days, auto x, and street driving. So 400lb springs is about the max.

contemplating:

Front:
Rennbay Brass A-Arm kit with lowering extension,
Ground Control Coil Overs With Hypercoil spings 250lbs-400lbs and Koni's

Rear:
Koni or Leda coilovers OR 30mm Torsion bars

whats your opinion?

My ITS 944 has 400 lb fronts, and 30mm rear bars.

I ran with the 440#/30mm setup for a while, then upgraded recently to 660#/34mm. Dedicated race-only car, of course. Just wanted to throw in - if you've got the option on Ledas for the rear, put em on the front too... I was not impressed with the durability or effectiveness of the off-the-shelf Konis with these spring rates (ran them only 1 year, then tossed 'em, they were shot). You should be much better off with the Ledas (though, to be true, I'm running custom-valved Bilsteins).

What about bushings, etc? I'm not familiar with the Rennbay a-arm kit... does it use harder bushings than stock? What are your plans for the rest of the suspension bushings? I'd be concerned about the results of putting in such spring rates and keeping any of the stock rubber (at least, in critical places)...

Yeah i was wondering the same thing. I was going to do new bushings with the installation of the suspension. I will be using the rennbay brass track kit with long pins: http://www.rennbay.com/track-kit-with-19mm-gck-long-pins-p-97.html

are you using elephant suspension polyurethane bushings allover? any more details?

Does anyone have coil overs in the back of their 944? i really want to know what spring rates to match up. Lets say i did 300 lb front springs.... what would i put in the back?

I think i am leaning towards these setups w/ rear coilovers: http://www.leda.com/shop/index.html?lang=en-uk&target=d1.html&lmd=38869.606134
or http://www.livermoreperformance.com/porsche_suspension.html
(ground controls have koni's tho, 924racer: KONI Bad for you?)

with some camber plates and M030 sways.

Anything that is better for less money? It may not be worth putting this into an N/A might not be fast enough.

thanks for the help

Against 300lb front, I'd say sometheing between 400lb and 450lb in the back?

Me? I'm using quite a mix of bushings. Paragon/Ground Control upper strut camber/caster plates with a Shine Racing spherical bearing a-arm kit up front (press-in, cheaper than RE, only available for steel a-arms). Rear is a mix; RE inner bearings for the semi-trailing arms, replica 933 (aka 924 DP) torsion bar carrier aluminum puck mounts, and delrin outer/poly-graphite inner torsion bar bushings. Remaining rear bushings are still stock rubber. But most is either spherical bearings or hard-mounts. Except maybe swaybars, though I do have the KLA rear endlinks.

Yes, I've had bad luck with durability on the yellow sport Konis with this high spring rates. Blew them out within a season. Switched to custom-valved Bilsteins Motorsport units (check my homepage) - inexpensive, but not adjustable - you have to just drive the car better...

This is true... I will just have to drive the car better.

I am looking at this article
http://www.tech-session.com/kb/index.php?page=index_v2&id=22&c=4

it says :
Coil Spring Rate (mm) Effective Rate (lbs/in)

(mm)?? for spring rate? is that correct?

It's usually N/mm, IIRC.
