In car camera hold down advice?
Im considering a DE this week w / a well run PCA chapter. The tech from mentions that a metal clamp is required for a camera to roll bar hold down( as opposed to an I/O port fabric style)...I never heard of this; I use the I0 mount..any ideas on what type of hold down I can use?....tia!

I welded a screw to the harness bar. Threads to match the camera mount base. Found an old tripod at thrift store and stripped it apart. That way I can still aim the camera correctly. Metal ground cut down on some of the ignition noise as an added benefit.

ok.....but I remain baffled that the IO port strap may not be allowed. I was hoping to have someone clear this up for me.......your mount sounds solid, as mine. Ill just call the Chapter...maybe I read the rule wrong. Thanks!

Not sure about PCA, but the SCCA rule requires the strap to have a metal buckle, maybe that is what they are talking about. The camera attaches to whatever mount you are using with the normal tripod screw, and is then secured with a strap.
What exactly does it say on the form? Tom |
