Some old video from the 'Ring

Here's a cool video from what looks to be the early 70's. Talk about a "brick outhouse", compare the roll-over strength of the "Bugs" (excepting the convertable) compared to some of the other cars, especially the orange car about 8 seconds in. I don't know for sure, but I think the orange car is an NSU or an Opel.

The lone 911 in the clip is pretty tame.

I loved the one of the guy getting way out of shape in his Beetle, then falling out the door! Nice belt usage..........

Agreed, the guy flying out of his car door was ******* crazy! I just can't believe how "common" those seemed. As if you could go down there on any day and see that. Track safety, at least from what I have seen, has come a long, long way!

Thanks for sharing that

Think about it, in those times there were no belts whatsoever.
And the old Ring was killing dangerous then as it is still today (BTST, thank God not BTDT).
If you take GT3 equivalent car, you arrive to that particular slow part through Fox hole with full speed just 2 fast curves before...
even today people has plenty of problems with that location...
