Brake Pads
I posted this in the 911 Forum, but figured I'd try here too.
I'm looking into changing my brake pads (I have no idea what is in there right now...probably OEM pads). The car is used for weekends on the street and about two autocrosses per month. I'm thinking about using Hawk HP Plus pads since it's supposed to be a street/autocross type brake pad. They also have the Ceramic line which is a step down from the HP Plus with less dust and noise. Anyone have any experience with either of these pads?

I have Hawk HPS (high performance street) pads on my WRX daily driver, they are good pads- don't make too much dust, don't squeal, and work well in the cold. I was going to buy the HP+ pads and they talked me into HPS because my car is a street car, I have driven on the street with full race pads and it's no fun so I took their advice. If your car isn't driven everyday and you do that much autocrossing I would go with the HP+ though, just know they will produce a lot more dust and may be noisy on the street. The dust can be corrosive to wheels to so you should clean them regularly.

If you don't do track event the HPS will work good. I got these on my daily driver and they are really good. I got something like 40Kmiles on them and I'm not really easy on them. I did a few AX with it with no problem. Actually I probably getting them hotter in my daily commute than they did in these AX.
The HP Plus will work also, but they can be very noisy under light braking. I had them on the Porsche they where good for the Track/AX/ Street except like I said, on the street they can be very noisy

I run Hawk HP+ on my mostly track/Some street 944 S2 and they make some noise under light braking and dust under heavy use. They work well enough for the street though if you need a track heavy compromise pad. Go with HPS if you are looking for a street heavy compromise pad.
