PCA stock class wheels

I spent a few minutes this weekend reviewing the PCA racing rules. For stock class in section 3D it states you can have wheels 1 inch wider than stock yet everyone seems to be running 9 inch wide rear wheels on SC's that came with 7 inch wide rear wheels from the factory.

What am I missing here?

There was an option for a brief period during the SC production that equipped the car with 7x8x16 wheels. This allows us to run 8's & 9's. Someone will chime in with the option code/name/edition.

PCA rules and wheels

Thanks Chrisp, sounds like a tax law loophole but I will use it.

Diameter is free. If you can, run 18's, if not, then 17's. There are some fast guys on 16's so don't be discouraged if that's all you have access to.

What are the advantages of 18's and 17's over 16's? Is it the lower sidewall height? Are the 18 & 17 setups heavier than 16's?

The Weissach edition of the SC came with 7 & 8s on 15" wheels. This was the model that allowed for 9" wide wheels on stock class PCA club racers now D and E classes. You can only go up 17" height as 16" was the maximum height in model run. HTH

Wheel diameter is free--you can run 26" dubs if you can find tires for them.

I just checked the rulebook again, and I stand CORRECTED on the wheel diameter. Sorry for the misinformation.
