Carbon Dioxide for Tires

The FIA is getting pretty strict about what you can put into your tires but most F1 teams seem to have settled on air carbon dioxide and nitrogen. They usually use some sort of blend. The nature of the blend is checked by the FIA.

They also use two tire valves. When the exotic mixture is being installed they use the second valve to purge the old mixture.

The interesting this to me is that I don't think NASCAR is checking for this. Given all of the F1 guys now working in Charlotte it would seem obvious that the top teams are mixing their own special blend of gas.

We can be sure that the PCA isn't checking. How long before the folks in PCA Club Racing start using exotic blends? We know that money is never an issue with some of the PCA teams.

Very interesting.
