So doing the PCA Instructor School, what to expect?
So - I am doing the November instructor school at Sebring in November - then a DE the next day.
What should I expect? I have done some instructing - years ago non-pca with the local Miata club... Is there a set format or is it a region by region thing?

It's a set National format. The course is about how to teach, not how to drive. You'll learn some good stuff.

It is usually done as a power point presentation...then driving.
the program is patterned after the program that has been used by PCA-GGR for about 10 years. Roll playing etc...classroom and then riding with other instructors or driving with other instructors playing our scenarios that you may come in contact with as an instructor. ![]() |

The mentor/instructors will do crazy newbie stuff.
It goes against your mind when these experienced guys start driving with one hand on the shifter or resting on the window, crazy lines, riding the rev limiter, missing apexes, bad exits, etc. You feel bad correcting them. It's fun though. I really enjoyed it. KT

You will probably be with one guy most of the day as he role plays different levels of screwups.....I mean student drivers..... then switch to a different Mentor who will be a bit more serious and test you as an Instructor. Then you should be in a classroom taking a written test. This is assuming they are still following the original PCA formula which has worked well for them in the past. Pass or fail is based on a combination of the on track stuff and the classroom test.
That is the Suncoast Region PCA and is a great group of very dedicated individuals. Look forward to a very enjoyable weekend.
