				In Car VideoCam

			Hello all,

Wonder anyone has experienced with GoPro video cam? http://www.goprocamera.com/ I've been searching for one to replace my old school video camcorder. For under $200 seems like a good deal.

Cool package but the video quality is not that good; neither is battery life. No remote control so better place it at hands reach.

Seen various guys using Mino USB and similar cameras which are on the same price range with better, battery, recording time, resolution, .... I personally like the Kodak Zi6 since you can use an SD card of up to 32mb. Have not tried it yet (I'm holding out for the new HD Chase Cam or AIM's SmartyCam which are due out 1st quarter of 2009). Good luck and let us know what you ended up doing.

I'm curious about this too. The Aiptek I was using was so so at best in the car and crapped out after 3 or 4 track days. I couldn't get it to record when I tried it on my open wheel race car. The video quality on this looked ok to me from the samples on their website and this camera got a positive review in Classic Motorsports magazine (not sure if that means much?)

I've tired a few different set ups and ended up going with a POV-1. Not cheap but a good all in one solution that inculdes a remote.

I got mine from www.racerecall.com down here in Australia and the guy has various camera mounts and a holder for the main recorder unit that can strap to a roll bar and is approved by the motorsport federation down here. Im sure something similar would be available in your next of the woods. A few guys here are also using the cheap Flip cameras with pretty good results. Cheers

It costs a little more, but Chase Cam looks to be the way to go. Basic kit is just under $1000. Designed with motor sports in mind. In the long run you get what you pay for.
