Watkins Glen 2010

New to the Porsche scene and just wondering if theres anyone on here that calls the Finger Lakes area in NY home? More specifically anyone that has info on or is planning to attend meets in this area or track days at Watkins Glen in 2010? Just trying to meet some "local" guys and gain some information before I start my latest project..911 street machine and weekend tracker. Thanks in advance.

Hey, I am in Farmington. I call WGI my "home" track. I have done a bunch of HPDE's there. I have 3 P-cars and haven't decided yet which will be my 2010 tracker.

Small world. Im just over in Manchester. Ive been having a hell of a time trying to find any decent 911 project within 200 miles of here.. any suggestions?

How much of a project are you looking for ? Do you have any specific year, coupe or targa, engine ?

Looking for a late 70s to early 80s targa that needs a refresh. (paint, minor rust repair, interior work is all fine). Not looking for a huge rust repair job. Im pretty sure I've seen your on craigslist? Im in college now and had to cough up a good amount of money for next springs tuition so my car budget has taken a good beating. So now it looks like its going to have to wait until the summer unfortunately. Otherwise I'd be taking a trip to Farmington to check out that targa of yours. Damn I love paying my life away for this "higher education".

I'm in the South/Central NJ PCA club and they run Watkins Glenn quite a bit. If you are looking for a car, I'd give Dan Petchel of Cars Inc a call, he's got some cars, including a very nice 87 911 with a recent engine rebuild.

Here's a listing of what he's got, he might have a few more. Nice guy, very knowledgeable.

Thanks for the site...might come in handy in the future. That 87 does look mighty nice. Does anyone happen to have a schedule of open track/DE/club days at WGI for 2010.. all I can seem to find is race days on their website. Thanks for the help so far!

Got to motorsportreg.com or the various PCA regions that go there...Potomac puts on a nice event in June. I made my first trip there this year. Damn, that's a fast track.

The Niagara Region PCA does a number of events at WGI every season and there are a bunch of track junkies in the Rochester area. In addition to that, Trackmasters and Group 52 run excellent events. G52 is open track/non-instructional so you'd need to be invited or be checked out at one of the other club events.

ps, the WGI schedule won't be posted until Feb or March 2010, but some of the clubs will have their dates secured for next year.

I used "Track Schedule". It tells me who and when groups are at WGI. It also has contact information so you can get signed up.


...and yes that is my 911 on Craigslist.
