Can't find Power Slot rotors in stock anywhere. Any ideas?
I have always used Power Slot rotors for my race car- 88- 911 carrera, and need new ones, but no one has them in stock. Anyone have a known source for them?
Or what about a 'just as good' set of front rotors? What do you use on your race car? Thanks Hunter

Hunter,
I'm looking to see if we have any or if my distributor does. Heads up though, these are being manufactured overseas and we have heard some complaints about cracking and failures. Not sure if this is entirely representitive, just wanted to pass it along. I'll PM you when I check stock.

After breaking a drilled rotor, and cracking two different slotted rotors on my 86 (when the brakes were stock) I went back to plain old factory Zimmerman rotors (thanks to Chris S for sourcing them a year or so ago for me.) They worked great, and in fact I had better pedal feel with the solid rotor than with the drilled or slotted which makes perfect sense when you consider that the other types are removing a percentage of material under the pad face.

I'm actually using factory 930 rotors in the rear and a Wilwood rotor in the front. I'd use Wilwood all the way around but haven't had time to order up the alum. hats to work in the rear. I get the same life out of the Wilwood rotors ($80 or so!) that I do out of the Zimmermans which is about 3 seasons... To use these though, you have to have the alum hats.
Haven't heard back about the powerslots and won't untll Mon. Don't have any here.

Lots of people use the stock/factory Porsche rotors made by Zimmerman for the 84-89 Carreras with excellent results.

Kevin is spot on. I've not really noticed a significant difference in longevity or braking power. The only advantage the slots give you is some extra water shedding during rain-driving. They don't provide significant mass reduction nor do modern pads need "gas relief' like old-school pads would.

we were looking for them a few weeks ago and no luck. We ended up purchasing slotted rotors from Porterfield enterprises in Costa Mesa.
No track use and feedback yet; the car is leaving for the east coast new owner next week

I had the same experience with an 86, went back to zimmerman rotors. AND gave up on Hawk Blue racing pads. They were fun but they could chew up rotors. (Of course, all the pads fault...)

Count me in on stock Zimmerman rotors. The one set of Power Slot Cryogenic I tried did not last long on the front of my '86 Carrera.
Love Hawk Blue pads... don't care what they do to rotors. Stock rotors are cheaper than pads. I have not felt better modulation or pure braking power than I get with Hawk Blues.
