LSD for 99 Boxster 5 speed?
OK I'm on search for LSD that will work with 1999 Boxster 5 speed transmission. Any ideas? Any experts with these trannies around? Seems to be real lack of resources for this box. And apparently 99 is different than 97 and 98 5 speed boxes!
Hard for me to believe there is no option for somone with a 99 Boxster to get an LSD in the car. It has been suggested that I convert to 6 speed. That's crazy expensive so I'd really like to find an LSD that works with my 99 5 speed.

How about Quaife ?
AUTOTECH - Quaife Torque Biasing Differentials, Close Ratio Gearkits, Racing Transmissions, Custom Driveline Components They list a Boxster 1999, but with extra parts needed. It might be worth a phone call to them... No affiliation of course - just saw your post and remembered someone did this. Take care, Roy T |

You know you'll find all kinds of info if you do a search on boxsterspec.com LSD was debated ad nauseum. I'm pretty sure Mike Essa from TechTrix in Anaheim installed at least one for testing. I don't remember if he used the Quaife or Kazz (SP?). I don't remember anyone saying the '99 had to get a different unit than the '97 or '98's. John Gordan would know more info since he was big on putting it into the spec, for safety reasons.

I asked Michael Essa...
"Gaurd if they want a clutch type or quaife for a less expensive gear type that won't need to be rebuilt ever but will only help with accel wheel spin, not on decell or trail braking like the clutch type." (Sent via mobile.) - Mike

Hello,
That is correct. We do offer a ZF style clutch type LSD for the early 986 chassis Boxsters. Let me know if I can be of assistance. Kind Regards, Matt Monson Guard Transmission LLC

Here is a little video of the car pre Guard. YouTube - Boxster at NorCal UFO AX Think I'm ready to take on those big scary Caymans now. LOL!
