"Porsches at the Point" October 29-30 at Sears Point

The Porsche Racing Challenge Series 10th Annual "Porsches at The Point"

By Michael A. Mitchell
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(San Francisco, CA; October 19, 2011) The Porsche Racing Challenge Series will hold it's 10th annual "Porsches at the Point" at Infineon Raceway October 29 and 30 under National Auto Sport Association (NASA) sanction on October 29 and 30. "We are very pleased to have reached this milestone," noted Masuo Robinson, President of the San Francisco Bay Area Porsche Racing Club (PRC), which organizes the Series' events. "We expect a strong turn out and some very competitive racing at this event which marks the end of our tenth season," added Robinson.

The event will feature two all-Porsche racing groups, with practice and qualifying sessions and a sprint race each day. Within these two groups there will be many types of Porsche racing cars organized into classes, so there will be several races-within-races going on at all times. These include two PRC "specification" classes for Porsche 911 racing cars: Spec 911 and GT Limited. Both classes offer exciting and competitive racing with cost-containment in mind, and racers earn points toward season championships. In addition, Porsche 944 and 986/Boxster Spec classes will feature some exciting competition.

The event will also include a group of racers from the Historic Stock Car Racing Series, in authentic retired NASCAR stock cars, along with several other NASA racing groups. NASA Time Trial and High Performance Driver's Education (HPDE) groups are also available for those with appropriate previous track driving experience in Porsches and other types of cars.

2011 Porsche Racing Challenge Series Sponsors

The 2011 Porsche Racing Challenge Series is sponsored by Fred’s Place (Mountain View, CA), Reno Rennsport (Sparks, NV), Ball Renegade/TPD (National City, CA), Jerry Woods Enterprises (Campbell, CA), Rothsport Racing (Tualatin, OR), S.Car.Go Racing (San Raphael, CA), Commercial Coverage Insurance (San Francisco, CA), Jay Jarvis Autosport (Sonoma, CA), IPB-Autosport (Sacramento, CA), Hotel Majestic (San Francisco, CA), Guard Transmission (Boulder, CO), Cullinan Appraisals (Hollister, CA ), Lazy J Ranch, and several individuals.

For additional information, or to sign up to drive or race, please visit the PRC web site at www.prc-racing.com and the NASA web site at National Auto Sport Association - nasaproracing.com.

I'll be there.

My first time back in Spec-911 since March of 2009. I can't wait! I hope I haven't forgotten how to drive.

Mike is this a free event for spectators? Didn't see anything about admission for spectators on either site.

NASA charges $10 per person for entry into the paddock area. You pay at the gate when you sign the waiver.

The $10 covers both days if you remember to keep your ticket for Sunday, so you can be REALLY cheap.

No worries Toby, I got the email from Masuo with the update. 24 Spec-911s entered. Sweet.

Hope you supersized your event and are running the NASA GTS races too. I'm signed up for those. My fiancee' is going to be there watching me race for the first time so I figured I should run as many as possible.

I figured you may have after it arrived a few hours after your original post. will not supersize as the supersize of my mid section means i tire quickly. thats too much for a single day, being old and tired i need to save my energy for the PRC races.

look forward to hangin around this weekend. when you pulling in? im going to be up mid day fridee, let me know and we can try to save you some room around us if you want.

Please encourage folks to attend and drive, race or just watch. NASA do charge $10 at the gate for either or both days.

I am pretty sure that NASA will have its traditional Saturday night BBQ free to all in the paddock.

PRC will have a separate Saturday night catered dinner in the paddock to celebrate our 10th anniversary. Cost is $20 per person.

I will be there both days, but not racing. We will have the two Porsche-only groups, and there are quite a few specification cars entered... Spec 911, GT Limited, 944 and Boxster. So quite a bit of racing within each race.

I am particularly interested in meeting prospective Porsche racers from around the area.

We should be rolling in Friday early afternoon, so yeah, if you can save a space for me that'd be great!

It'll be strange to not actually drive my racecar to the track for the first time. Finally a safety net. Hope you guys won't think I've gone soft!

Should be some good racing in the GT group. I'm looking forward to having the 944s running with us to add flavor to the battles.
