Please comment on my alignment specs
this is from my corner balance/track alignment last Dec.
I have since changed my t bars to hollow 23 / 30's and will be bringing the car back for another alignment visit. The car handled like a dream at Sebring in Feb, and I was very pleased with how the specs translated to tire temps. I felt like a dolt in Dec when they asked me what specs I wanted and I just said 'duh'. I don't want to go back without some usefeul recommendations and specs in my pocket. Car - 85 911, 2600 lb track car; suspension is ER - poly-bronze, quick-change camber adj front, quick-change splined hubs and height adj. Rear sways are still stock with solid drop adj links in rear. I dont have my numbers with me, but I also have an 85 full track car, 2500#, same ER stuff with Smart Racing ARBs, same tires.....running -3.5 rear camber, fronts same as yours. I think the toe is a bit more in the rear than yours...something like 30 minutes maybe. is it corner balanced?

yes - corner balance before front PB bushings and bigger t bars was:

Does the car oversteer? Most people run more rear camber than front, usually by .5 to 1 degree.

I have not gotten into an oversteer situation yet, but that's not to say it doesn't.
However, getting that much of a difference between f/r is probably impossible, as I need the full neg 2.2 deg in the front to clear the 951 16x8's w 225's, and I think the rears are max-ed out? I went into the shop with a full 2.4 deg (the max for the ER monoball plates). and they dialed it back to the 2.2. - which meant that after a session at Sebring, I had to massage the fender lip - again. thanks for the response Bill K |
Shoot for at least -3 in the rear. Unless your trailing arms are bent, you should be able to get there. With the right tools and some modification to the openings on the spring plates you should be able to get to -3.75 to -4, but your shop needs to know what they're doing with a torsion bar 911.

camber -2.4 toe out 2mm each side caster +6.5 Rear camber -3 toe in 1mm each side You can get 3 degrees in the rear. Our cambermax product will help with that. |

This is exactly the kind of info I was looking for. Chuck - I polished the races and bearings with 600, then 1200 grit, and swapped springplates side-to-side to put the wear spots on the bottom, and installed the 1.5mm spacers this time. Anything wrong with that? (Do the springplates take a 'set' the same as the bars?) Bill K |

I installed some front camber plates on my 89 3.2 and just recently your ER cambermax on the rear.I know for a fact that i have -2.5 in the rear,no idea what it is in the front until i get another alignment. Car has 22/29 torsion bars,will be running 17 inch 225/45 and 255/40 NT01's dry and same size Star Specs in the rain. What would you suggest as a good alignment setup,i drive the car on the street as well ! I need to go for another alignment and corner balance within the next two weeks ... Cheers ! Phil |
