914 camber plates

I am running stock camber plates on my 914-6 race car. The rubber has been replaced with a monoball. My problem is the chamber plates appear to be moving giving me more camber than what I want.

I am running 9.5 X 15 Goodyear slicks.

Is there a good/easy way to make this stop moving?

You will have to add some tubular braces as I did years ago. When everything gets solid as with the mono balls the stresses really shoot up. It the pict there is one that connects the bolts, one that braces the towers and a diagonal that runs from one tower to the frame box on the other side. I used thin wall cro-moly tubes and ends I bought at a fab shop. The white square box is a windshield washer water tank and pump from JC Whitney that is modified to supply misters to the front oil cooler when very hot.

I think one of the reasons you needed the braces, John, is because you removed the bulkhead that would sit in front of the stock fuel tank. There isn't room for those bars in a stock 914 because there is a sheet-metal bulkhead in the way. (Well, in the way of the diagonal.) There is also shaped metal across the top of the bulkhead, which provides more strength.

I'm not sure that a brace would help much if the stock panel is there.

To the OP: How do you know that the movement is from the camber plates? Is there rubber anywhere in the suspension? Have you measured the movement, and if so how?

There is no rubber in my suspension. I know the plates moved because once I aligned the car I maked the location with a sharpie. The plates ae about 1/8" from the sharpie marks, inboard.

I like your idea. I do have the stock bulkhead in place but, I think I can get a rod on the aft bolt as you show.

The rod on the bolts was put in place first after I experienced the same thing you are seeing. I had considered making some steel plate camber boxes but never found the time and the brace between the bolts stopped the upper mount slipping no matter how tight the clamp bolts were. After the bulkhead was cur out so I could access that part of the trunk I added the second two. Note that all the tubes are adjustable and I could actually pull a shock mount in or push it out if I wanted to.
