Run groups
Is it just my imaginaton or is being in the second AX run group
worth a second or 2 on a 50 sec course. Personally, I find it much easier to get up to speed when doing the second group.......if you think this means I got whupped again, you'd be right ![]()

Yo, JP:
I've certainly wanted to use this as an excuse a few times. Honestly, I'd always want to run in the second run group for a couple of reasons. One, I can watch the cars run in the 1st group (even if I'm working a corner), and learn where to go fast and slow. You can actually learn the course significantly by watching other cars do it. Second, many times the cars in the first group will sweep the course clean, and lay down some sticky rubber. So I guess I could see some sense in the second group being a little faster for these very reasons. Also, the day may warm up as well, allowing your R compound tires to grip better. If the course was somehow getting torn up through the day, then the converse could be true as well; but this doesn't happen too often. When you can get FTD from the 1st run group, you really make them shake their heads!?!?!?

I completely agree! I was in the 1st run group yesterday and while working for the 2nd group, I noticed 2 places where I should have changed my line. This is no excuse since I should have been able to notice this during one of my 4 runs. The second group definitely has an advantage though which is why I usually try to sign up for that run group.
