944 N/A wheels and tires help please
Question 1:
I have an 88' 944 N/A with rims from a S2 I believe (image is from Google not actual car) Does anyone know the specs of these rims (lug pattern, width, offset)? ![]() Question 2: I would like to know what size wheel and tire I can benefit from on the autocross track. I met someone today with a 944 turbo with 235/35/18 in the front and 285/30/18 in the rear. The owner didn't seem to know much about the wheels but thinks it is a +20 offset. He also told me with an N/A I would benefit straying away from the staggered sizes and going square all around (thoughts on that?). So I guess I am asking what is the largest wheel/tire size could I go without needing to modify for rubbing/ scraping etc. As of now I am on stock suspension and plan to upgrade soon to coil overs. |

944 wheels
Those are design 90 wheels.
If you look closely at the photo around the valve stem you can see the width =7" and offset=55mm Porsche wheels lug pattern is 5x130mm More info at this website: 944racing 944's 1986 and older use an "early" offset wheel (~23mm) and the 1987 and later 944's use a wheel with a larger or "later" offset of 55 mm to 65 mm. All Porsches after 1990 use a larger offset but there is a lot of variability. Fuchs and Cookies are all early offset but the phone dials were made in early and late offsets. Greg
