Who knows this car? I am collecting the history...
Hello everyone,
I bought this car more than a year ago. -It is a great car and I would like to know if anybody seen this on track before and have some infos where it was raced,... The guy I bought it from bought it in 1999 and donīt have infos from the time before. It looks like it was converted many years ago. But it also looks like it never had a big accident. Except the roof and the fiberglass everything is in first paint. Many thanks, regards Malte ![]() ![]() |

Looks familiar. Can you provide more details on the car and the previous owner? And where are you located?
From the pictures it looks familiar and like it was certainly living in my area for a while. It looks like it may have been raced in the early days of the Porsche Racing Club series. The windshield banner is very familiar.

Thanks for your answer! The former ownerīs name is John. He lived in Santa Cruz when I bought the car last year. Meanwhile the car is in germany where I live. I have a 911 SC which I use for rally, and my plans were to use this for circuit racing. But I havenīt done anything with it, except to install a set of fuchs wheels and the ducktail so far.

Did John's last name begin with a B?
Where in Germany do you live? What do you what to know about the car? If it is the car I am thinking about and was cared for at Sportech for at least part of its life, then it is somewhat familiar to me. Sportech is one of my most highly recommended shops in the SJ area. I had work done there back in the day. The stickers suggest that it was run in a PRC race at some point and maybe some PCA Club races as well.

I see that car was advertised in these forums. I am familiar with the PO and the car, though it has been a while since I have seen the latter.
At least two great local shops (and some great subcontractors) did work on that car.

Yes you are right with the name. I wasnīt sure if John would be happy when I post it here. And as far as I know the car was serviced from Kens Sporttech. What John told me the car had an engine fire and after this the engine was rebuild on a 2,0 case with 2,8 piston and cylinders, twin plug, mfi,...
John told me that he mainly did track days with it, but it would be great to know more about itīs history, if it was raced in a "real" race before. What would also be great to know if when the car was converted from street to race... Btw live in NRW/Duesseldorf. Have you been to germany? |

Malte:
My name is Mike, and yes I have been to Germany. Southern Germany, including the Erlangen area. I have visited Porsche AG. I do not know anything about the car before John owned it, and I cannot recall whether he ever raced it locally. If he did it would likely have been with the Porsche Racing Club (in the early days) and/or the PCA (in a Club race hosted by Golden Gate Region). Sportech is owned by a gentleman named Mark. I am not sure whether Mark corresponds on email. He bought the business years ago after having worked there under the owner for a really long time. The previous owner of the business is still around and I believe still somewhat active with the local PCA Golden Gate Region (PCA Golden Gate Region | It's not just the cars, It's the people.). The Golden Gate Region web site still has time trial results posted from years back and old newsletters (with even older time trial results) can be downloaded as pdf files. I need to visit the area near Sportech one day next week, so I will stop in and see Mark and ask him if he knows anything about the car's earlier history. If you have specific questions, please feel free to send me a private message (e-mail is best). I will do my best to help. Have a great weekend, Mike
