searching for threads or info on making SWB handle (future race car)

Anyone here that can either point me to a good thread (I searched) or share with me some info on making a SWB car handle well?

I've got an old 67 912 that already has a 69MFI E engine installed. The car is pretty rough but good bones... My plan is to build a vintage 2.0 litre race car out of it. I may sell the running MFI engine and build a race motor up from scratch (still hoping for some replies to my other post on engine build).

Anyone here have some knowledge to share or good threads? I currently race a 914/6 and have lots of experience with LWB 911s. This is my first SWB.

Hi Jay - other members will likely chime in, but take a look at the links below to some earlier threads where this is discussed.

I have an early 912 with a 2.7 that I almost daily and auto X once month.

2.7 E cam / 9.5:1 / Webers

My suspension only has upgraded Torsion Bars

22mm Front / 26mm Rear Torsion Bars
Non Adjustable Shock Mounts... like I said it was an early 912
Stock front Sway Bar, No Sway Bar in the rear
Adjustable Koni's all away around
Stock Brakes, single circuit. (this should be upgraded, but for me it's too damn fun)
Standard Bushings, Spring Plates, etc.
Fuch 15x6
Tires Tires Tires... the Yokohama Advans 205/60/r15
Stock 901 tranny

From my experience the SWB cars are A LOT more work to keep on the track and for me it's a ton more fun, imho. More... shifting, counter steering, throttle steering, heel toeing... After one day at the track my arms are noodles, and I love it.

I am racing against 964's and Boxsters and our times are always close.
