Porsche Crest 1985 Carrera Targa BLK/BLK $13,900

I thinking about selling my car if I can get my price. I'm sure you all will let me know where the market is. I found my car on Pelican in December last year. It was located in Charlotte, NC. The PPI was stellar: excellent condition inside and out, excellent diagnostics on the engine, (cylinder compression and leak-down test). I could not be happier with the outcome. I have thoroughly enjoyed the car as have my wife and kids. I am now considering selling because my son is turning 16 and I need to buy another family vehicle for the midwest winter. I anticipate buying another 911 (a bit newer, hopefully a turbo) sometime next spring. Here's some recent pics:













For you folks new to the 911 world there are definitely two camps: Targa vs. Coupe. The standard argument against Targa is that in a track or racing environment, the body is not quit as stable as the coupe. That is true. For the purist, mostly track guys, the coups is preferable. But for the rest of us, there is nothing better than a sunny, warm drive in the country in your Targa with the top off. You get all the bennies of a convertible, at 2/3 the cost and still have the 911 profile. I'll never own anything but a Targa.

Now for the particulars on my car:

MILEAGE: 162,000
ENGINE: 3.2 LITER, 220 HP
CONDITION: INT- 8/10, EXT-8.5/10
PRICE: $13,900

HISTORY:
Was originally California car. Second owner purchased in 2000 on-line and had it shipped to NC. He only put 5,000 miles on it in 3 years. I bought it and brought it to IL in February of 2004. I've put another 5,000 miles on it. I can fax the Carfax history report to you.

PROBLEMS:
Slight surface paint bubble about 8" along bottom edge of windshield.

Hairline crack in windshield from bottom on drivers side about 4".
(I would not fix if I keep the car, but I deducted $600 from my original price)

AC has not been run in 4 years so will need reconditioning if you need it.

Power seat button works intermittently.

PLUSES:
New CD player. Sound is excellent.

Extremely well maintained in and out. Exceptionally clean everywhere, including under the deck lid.

Mechanically, runs perfect. Very nice ride, good power in all gears. Cold starts instantly and does not smoke. Shifts as well as any 930 tranny and clutch.

Beautiful to look at, definitely a head-turner.

Price reduction

The market has spoken. I've had some interest but nothing real serious. So I am going to go down in price a bit to see if I can get some action before the holidays. If not, I'll hold until spring and see what happens.

Doug, I have a couple of questions.

Has there been any engine work done to the car that you are aware of? Clutch work? How extensive are the records?
What were the leakdown and compression numbers?
How did you come up with 220 HP as the stock is rated at 207.

I just recently sold my targa, and am having withdrawls .
