What's a 92 911 worth?

Looking at a 92 coupe with under 85k miles. Car just had a major service as well as new clutch. Besides having a few paint chips on the hood, the car also needs some fresh wheels. Can anybody tell me what a fair price is? Thanks

C2 or C4? it depends on how fast you want to sell, do you have maintenance records, etc. FWIW, I'm a KBB.com guy for these years...

Hi Schuey
It's a C2. I am not selling. Thinking about buying one.

Here is my 2 cents.

The 92 is a good year. New mirrors, new rims and a factory fix to the cyl. head leaking issue for those few (as people say) early cars that leak.

As for price, it sounds like a car that is simply a driver. Kind of sort of maintained but owned by people who drove the car. 86K is somewhat lower mileage. It would be nice to know options, # of owners and service history, but without that, I would say it's a 22-23K car. I'd start with an offer of $19,900. If it needs new tires, that alone will cost you 600 to 900 dollars. If it has some convience options such as CD player, CD changer, Heated seats, 8 way power seats, sport seats, M030, LSD, 17" cup wheels, etc.. Obviously you might pay more like 24 to 25K.

I've seen a TON of these for sale as of late and the prices keep coming down; ever since the 997 came out prices have dropped, I'd say in the $18-22 range; but like I stated before check out kbb.com and do a private party value on it...if your patient, you'll find a nice deal...it all depends on color pref, etc. too...

a fellow rennlister just purchased a '91 in mint condition with receipts galore and a pro rebuild for $20k...a beautiful "RSA" clone too...

it all comes down to your budget, etc. remember to get a PPI on it...

best of luck...

Kevin

I agree with the comments above. I'm not seeing these cars flying out the door. Especially now that 993s can be had in the $27-$31k range. People are trying to get $25k for a car like this but realistically it's worth $20k or less. You can also get decent mileage 996s for $30-$33k. I don't care what people say about water cooled cars, this one performs.

The pressure is on old Porsches. Also, with the dollar going like it is it is becoming up to 25% more expensive to maintain these cars.

Good luck.

Data Point: I sold my 93 GPW/GREY with 44k on it for $27k. It was really nice. It was a low option car though. It had a LSD, Cassette, partial leather seats. It didn't fly out the door. There are some really nice cars out there but there are even more turds. Try to buy one that has had the cylinder update or one that never needed it.
