Go to the "S" registry home page and click on Technical info . Several choices there. TFM

I tried that but some of those are not longer active sites (i.e. the Porsche site).

Do a web search for Porsche Cars North America (PCNA), and get a phone number from them. Call, and ask them if they would tell you the engine serial # if you tell them the VIN for the car you're interested in. Otherwise, I doubt you'll find that info anywhere else.

Kurt, that only tells you if the ranges match. I think he wants to know whether the engine is the same as the one the car was built with.

That's correct. I have already checked that and I thought that there might be another source. Maybe there isn't.

All I've ever heard of is a Kardex...and if you're not the owner and willing to cough up $100+, then I think you're screwed.

If you've found a 67 to 73 S, I can tell you if it's a matching # car.....but not for a T or an E.....

But you should still be able to tell if it's in the range....and beginning, middle, or end of the range by comparing the chassis and engine #'s....
