87 944T for sale

WOW, Price is Way High! I know, there are lots of cheaper Porsche 944’s out there, and some of them are even Turbo models, so why so much for this one. Well, a lot of reasons. First, if a car is really just a box with 150,000 or so miles in it, then this one still has over 108,000 miles still left in it. Probably lots more. (only 41,200 miles since new).

Unlike most 21 year old Porsches, this one looks about two or three years old at most, inside and out. It has always been garaged, and most of the time under a dust cover. The paint is orginal gaurds red, never repainted. The original black leather seats, are in excellent condition. The original dash is not cracked, the original black carpets are not worn or faded. Everything works, power steering, windows, mirrors, sunroof, A/C, sunroof, cruise control, and more. Original wheels with very good recent tires, about 80% tread left. Truly a garage queen, in the best sense of the term!

Further, this car is a true dilemma, a contradiction in terms. How so? Well, it has been upgraded to be the ultimate DE (driver’s education) or track day car, but it has never been on the track or in competition of any sort!

Upgrades include: larger than stock, K-27-6 KKK turbo charger, DME/KLR Turbo Cup Chips, K & N air filter, Lindsey boost ehancer, 3/8” shimmed wastegate, Koni Turbo Race Cup coil over shocks, fully adjustable for compression, rebound and ride height.
600 lb front, and 400 lb rear Eibach springs, Weltmeister 28mm front, 22mm rear sway bars. Zimmerman forged brake race rotors front and rear (oversized) and stainless steel brake lines. Stock hp was 217, this one probably upwards of 300 at rear wheels? It is WAY fast!

Also, odd for a DE or Track Day car, has an Eclipse am/fm/cd, super 320 watt, dual 160 amp 6 speaker stereo system including 2 8” “bazooka” 80 watt bass speakers. I’m not a stereo guy, but this system looks and sounds pretty impressive.

Includes original equipment window sticker, owner’s manuals, Porsche turbo maintenance manuals, and Turbo Workshop manuals.

There is more, including limited slip differential, original spare tire & tool kit, Porsche air compressor, jack, etc. More still?

Also included: A spare set of Porsche Turbo Twist wheels mounted with near new Potenza tires, and a complete 2.5” free flow steel exhaust (no catalytic converter) from waste-gate back.

I have probably forgotten something. Call with questions.

So there you have it. A low mileage, orginal, upgraded performance, track ready garage queen that has never really been pushed. I am the second owner, and have owned it for a year and a half. During that time I had the all belts replaced (timing, balance, etc - $1,300) and the rest of the car carefully looked over by local Porsche specialist shop.

Why am I selling? I guess because I am more of a “driver” than a “shiner, and I cannot bring myself to use this car the way I originally thought I would when I bought it. Its too nice to “push” in competition the way I have used my other special interest cars, and frankly, though I have club-raced small bore cars for years, the performance of the 951 scares me!

Though I usually carry my cell phone, and try to pick-up, I often travel for business, and sometimes have to rely on voice mail messages, please don’t be reluctant to leave one, I’ll call back. 801 597-1024. I rarely answer my home phone…(thanks telemarketers), so don’t bother with that. I do check e-mail, at least twice a day .

Finally, I know I am asking a premium price. (I will discount if extra free-flow exhaust and extra wheels and tires sell separately and will consider delivery for expenses) Consequently, the ad may be old, but if it’s still listed, the car is probably still available. I’ll remove it promptly when sold, so don’t hesitate to call in the months to come.
