I love nicely modified turbos. They are so much fun to drive and can put out some crazy horsepower. When these 930s are built right, they can be fast and reliable. This particular Turbo is the perfect example of this.

The car was originally sold new here in California. One of the earlier owners is now husband (for the past 12-years) to Grammy award winner, Gladys Knight. While he owned the car, he certainly had the resources to not only maintain the car, but to also modify it properly. Andial did all the initial engine build/conversion. When the car had around 20,000 miles, the odometer stopped working so it was replaced with a new factory one. The car was sold to the next owner in 2004. This owner took care of the car and had the Supertec do most of the service including a full engine reseal. He sold the car to the current owner in 2010.

The current owner started maintaining the car with AASE Motors in Fullerton, CA. They are a very well respected/established Porsche repair facility in Southern California and well known among the Porsche Owner’s Club community. Recently, the current owner had AASE Motors go through the mechanicals and completely rebuild the engine and the transmission. The repair bill was over $20,000! The owner drove 1,500 miles and just took it back to AASE for an inspection, oil change, and tune-up. The car is running great and they did a dyno run to see power output. The results were 353.93hp and 371.74 torque at the rear wheels. This is very strong for a daily-driver street car that still passes CA strict smog laws.

The body is in very good condition and outside of the hood, the rest of the paint is original. There is a small blemish on the left rear fender where a suspension piece broke and got caught between the tire and the fender (see pic). Also, the hood paint has some minor chipping along the front edge. The factory vinyl rear fender protector is beginning to rip. Other than that, this Turbo is a very straight car and looks great. The interior is equally as nice. The original carpet looks great with no stains and minimal signs of use. The headliner is also nice with just a slight amount of sagging on the sunroof. The dash is straight with no warping or cracks. The door panels are in excellent shape as well. The custom factory sport seats also look nice except for a small blemish on the driver-side bolster red jumbo welt. The back seats were removed and a custom subwoofer box was professionally installed. The work is extremely nice and it is removable. The custom stereo was installed sometime ago and the quality of parts and work was outstanding. They even used a very expensive McIntosh amplifier (see pic). I’m guessing this was Gladys’ influence.

This 930 really drives great. It is tight, shifts smooth, and has gobs of power and torque. It is easy and civilized to cruise with the A/C blowing cold but when you step on the throttle, its true nature is unleashed.

This car includes the tool kit, spare tire (which does not fit over the brakes), and quite a few records. The original steel bumper (not the lower valance or rubber chin spoiler) is also available.
