P0017 Exhaust camshaft position with respect to crankshaft timing

Hi Guys,

I have the P0017 faulty code and I am trying to replace the camshaft position sensor. But I do not

know the location of this sensor ? Could someone help ?

Thanks,

BT

Hi Dmitry,

Porsche cayenne 2004 non turbo. Also, do you know if this is a DOHC or SOHC ? It looks like it is a VR6 engine but I am not sure.

Thanks,

BT

Hi Dmitry,

Sorry I forgot. It is 3.2L V6. Also, do you know if this has a single cam shaft for intake on one side and single

cam shaft exhaust for the other side ? Not dual cam shaft for each side ?

Thanks,

BT

On my 06 Cayenne S there located at the rear top of the engine, one on each side. Need to remove my air pumps and engine sheet metal to see them.

Hi Determined,

Thanks. I will try to look at that location. So, did you also get code P0017 ? And replacing it, worked for you ?

Regards,

BT

No, but I had once a crankshaft sensor error, turns out it was due to oil additive I put in. Once the engine warmed up and mixture was done it was fine. I also add restore every 2nd oil change, engine runs strong even after 130,000 miles on it.
