04 Cayenne turbo key fob problem.

Hello all, I have a 04 Cayenne turbo that is having problems with the key fob. Sometimes it works to unlock the doors and most times it doesn't. I use the key and place it into the drivers door and unlock it that way and then I stick the key in to the car ignition before the alarm goes off. So, I changed the battery in the fob and have the same problem. So I sat in the drivers seat and took the battery out of the key fob and the multi function display showed a message telling me to change the battery. I put the new battery into the key fob and the message went away. So I opened the drivers door, got out and used the lock button on the drivers door and it doesn't lock the doors. I shut the drivers door and walked around to the passenger door, opened it and tried to lock the door with the lock button on the door and nothing. If I push the unlock side of the button the doors unlock. I put the key into the drivers door and lock it that way. I'm wondering if I new a new key fob or is something else going on with the car. The fob works 25 percent of the time and I'm standing right close to the car. Thank you in advance for any replies

I had that problem for quite some time. Turned out the "new" batteries I had were all well past their shelf life. meh, Ebay.. :-/

Hahaha. I guess I'll go and ask for my dollar back at the dollar store hahah. I've tried different batteries from different places. I'm not wanting to go to the dealership. Thanks for the reply

Yeah, I hope that helps.

Also, you can often see signs of a weak battery in the fob light (in the fob 'headlight") If it's flickery then the battery is likely low. The light should be solid and obvious.

Also, have a second key fob. If the last one does fail, it's very expensive.
