Doors won't unlock

Nights of searching around have yielded no answer to this conundrum -

Just picked up an '06 Turbo S and my only key remote won't unlock any of the doors. The physical key unlocks the door just fine, and the remote WILL lock the car and pop the rear glass. So the remote is sending signal...

Details:
Push the unlock button once - exterior lights flash and interior lights turn on, but the driver's door doesn't unlock

Push the unlock button twice - No change

Hold unlock button - Rear glass pops open

Push lock button (after physically unlocking door) - Normal operation. All doors lock and exterior lights flash.

Any thoughts? Alarm module?

Did they have entry and drive back then? Key battery? Do you have a second key and what does it do?

They did have Entry and Drive, but my car does not. I only have the one key (so far) and I replaced the battery while trying to diagnose this. No change. I'm also attempted to "sync" the remote to the car by unlocking the door manually, then pressing the lock & unlock buttons on the remote for 30 seconds. I think it worked? The hazards came on. No change after doing this either.

Yeah, I've posted there too. In my investigations with new keys I'm narrowing it down to a problem with the control module in the trunk area.

Battery is "new" - as told to me by the scuzzy dealer we bought it from. So who knows... Have had no indications that it is low or not charging. Car starts great every time.
