Engine rebuilding

The engine rebuilding forum here is focused on 911 motors. Is there any resources out there for people rebuilding their Cayenne V8 motors?

why are you rebuilding? - might be way cheaper to find a good used engine - porsche rebuild items (pistons, rods, valves, etc.) are $$$$$$

I have no doubts it's expensive (I am rebuilding a 911 motor at the moment). However I picked up a 4.8 CTT with an engine knock for next to nothing, and it seems a shame to just part it to death. I know the block would need sleeving and pistons replaced amongst all the usual pieces. Just curious what all is involved.

Unfortunately, where I am in western Canada, finding used engines is a challenge, most coming from the US and after shipping, exchange, taxes, cheap is suddenly not so cheap. Better option is just buy a whole other Cayenne (which is how I ended up with 2 of them in the first place)

i know what you're saying - i looked into rebuilding a 2.5 liter 944 engine years ago and opted for buying a whole car just for it's engine - i'd carefully check out the options - even with all the hurdles you mentioned, buying an engine from the US and shipping it might still be the best route - good luck with your project
