interest in getting a Cayenne
been a long time Porsche owner, wrenched on a lot of mine and others, and ran DE for almost 20 yrs until I got too old...
over the past couple years I sold all but on project car and turned my focus to flying light sport and ultralights. I have a faithful 2011 Ford F150, 4X4, ecoboost, crew cab that towed my trailer to many events, as well as occasional use on the farm. family sold the farm and now that I am no longer towing a big trailer thinking of selling and getting a Cayenne. found what appears to be a very nice 2010 Cayenne S with 101k miles at a local dealer. they are willing to consider a trade for my truck. from looking at the option sheet I do not see any of the major options and it does not even have a trailer hitch. so suspect it has been a grocery hauler. body and interior are near perfect cosmetically. drove it yesterday and really like it. so am I a bit crazy to trade a great truck with 60k miles on this Cayenne? clean carfax, a number of standard service records and had the drive shaft replaced at about 90k. I have been reading stuff about Cayenne and don't find any horror stories on this year. they are asking $16k and I think my truck may be work just a little more than that for trade. and expect I could sell for more. one benefit to trading is in KY the trad-in value is deducted from the sale price to determine sales tax. so trading would save me about $1k. let me hear any good or bad. plan to go back Monday to see what deal they can make. |
If you haven’t checked on the Rennlist bbs, I would. They have a very active Cayenne group and a buyers guide. I have a 2013 Cayenne GTS. It’s one of my most favorite cars ever. There are quite a few areas of potential concern, one being the glued coolant pipes to the housing and transfer case issues. Maintenance will be higher than your current ride. I like the Alcantera seats as they grip and aren’t cold or hot as leather. Good luck!
