08 Cayenne 2-3 Shift problem
Hello, newbie here. This is my first post to this group. I hope I'm putting it in the correct lcoation.
I have a 2008 Cayenne and having an odd tranmission issue. When in automatic 'D'rive, I have to wind out and let off the accellerator before is shifts from 2 to 3. When in Manual mode, things shift properly. When I put the transfer case in low range, things shift normally (all gears). I put my scantool (Xtool D8) on and started going through the modules. I notices in the ECU that the 'Kickdown' was 'ACTIVE'. Not finding a lot about what puts the ECU in kickdown mode. My symptoms point to this as the probelm. Back in the day, there was a switch under the accelleraor that would get stick (happend to me on a couple Benz's I had). Needless to say, the cayenne does not... Just for the heck of it, I ordered a spare accellerator pedal. I doubt it's that, but for $20 it's a cheap risk while I'm digging. The TCM has no errors, nor does the transfer case. Any thoughts ? thanks !!! |

When was the last time the tranny fluid was changed? I would start there as a few of my issues went away after fresh fluid was put in.

your Xtool’s yelling kickdown active = TCM thinks you’re flooring it. Classic stuck 2-3 solenoid or gunked valve body in the Aisin box. Manual/low range skips the adaptive logic, so it shifts clean. $20 pedal’s a fun gamble, but 90% chance a $600 rebuilt valve body (or Sonnax zip kit) fixes it for good. Flush the fluid while you’re in there.
