2005 Issues and Reliabiliy - Question

Greetings

Considering purchasing a 2005 and after researching this am trying to determine whether there are any problems specific to this model year. I understand that the 03's and 04's did have some issues that were corrected by 05.

Also, how are these performing now that they are 6 years old. Most of the threads I have read are 3 or 4 years old so trying to get some more recent items.

Presently there are 2 I am looking at - the V6 with 80 000 miles and an S with 60 000 miles. I don't need the V8, but if it is a better engine I would consider it (altho it would be out of place with my current fleet of 6 cylinder cars).

Thanks

jb

Most of the items I've had issues with would exist on any motor I would bet. Headlight motors, radio, instrument cluster. There are some cases of the V8's suffering cylinder scoring, but I have no idea if the 6's have that issue as well. You will be spared the issue of the plastic cooling pipes on the six though.

If you are set on getting the six DO NOT drive a CTT, it might ruin everything for you.

go to rennlist's cayenne forum and start reading, plenty of info you need over there.
