Common things to be aware of.....
Brakes are expensive.....
The driveshaft support will fail eventually.....about a grand
You know of the water pipes....

There have been some instances of piston slap showing up in the v8 models, more so in Europe....but I have seen 2 of them this year, it'll sound like a lifter but is slap....

If you can afford the maintenance then go for it....stay on top of the the service....
I have seen better deals, like 15-18k for a comparable truck....if you can get it on a lift you could check it closer...or slide underneath....

Known issues on 2003 - 2006 Cayenne S and turbo models.

* Plastic coolant pipe replacement to metal, DIY for about $600 for the kit (dealer $2K -$3K depending on the dealer)

* Cardan shaft (drive shaft), several companies are rebuilding shafts with new bearing for less than $400 and replacement can be a DIY.

* Brakes are only expensive if you take it to a Porsche dealer. DIY for pads and wear sensors around $150, add another 400-500 bucks if you replace the rotors.

* Original spark coils have a habit of cracking and should be replaced. With 70K miles the plugs should have already been replaced so the coils may have also been replaced.

$20K for a 2006 w/70K from a private party is not that far off the mark. (Dealer pricing would be ~$24K)

Hopefully this information helps.

John
