Extended warranty
We are about to take delivery of our 2013 Cayenne S. I understand these engines, like the 996/M96, are not perfect. We want an extended warranty but think we know better than to buy from the dealer. Does anyone have advice? jvm

I would skip it. ...extended warranties strike me as over priced and under serving. YMMV

you can get the warranty later on before the original factory expires(ask your dealer)... extended warranty will kick in after the original warranty expires. Its a must if you do not do hands on and plan on keeping it a longtime. It will payoff in the long run.MY 0.02cents.. |
Thanks Guys, and Consumer Reports strongly agrees. These warranties have always been a money-maker for the dealerships. When they cost around $700 for a BMW, for example, Newsweek said less than $100 went toward actual insurance. The reason we would like to have a longer warranty is driven by the fact that our 2000 Carrera just suffered total engine failure (Intermix). Of course no warranty would have taken us to 13 years and 70,000 mi.
Like I say, we want an EW but $3000 for 2 years is very expensive. We will keep shopping and maybe find a direct buy before the car is very old. So far no success with credit unions, etc. One finance guy said he sees them cost $5000+ for big Audis and $9000 for MBenz. jvm |
