Front wiper motor/gearbox replacement?
 

This Winter (why did I ever move to the Northeast?!?), my windshield wipers (2005 Turbo) started to slow below about 20F and become completely stuck/inoperational below 10F (which really sucks in a snowstorm on the freeway, let me tell you). When the vehicle warms up, they work again (except then typically the fuse is blown).

Never touched anything on the Cayenne (never had to); does anybody have an idea how to replace the gearbox and/or motor? Haven't received a quote from my mechanic yet (he did say though that this seems to be a somewhat frequent occurrence), but something like this is something I would typically fix myself on my other car.

Thoughts?

I haven't had any such problem with my 2004 Turbo here in North Dakota, at ambient temperatures as low as -30F. I was actually surprised at how easily the Cayenne started up in that extreme cold, without the benefit of an engine block heater or the like. So what you are seeing is definitely avoidable. I do not know how to fix it and I hope someone chimes in to help you, because I for one have loved the Cayenne this winter.
